Hiking, camping and the great outdoors have been a passion of mine for a number of years. Regularly getting out and about in the hills of the Peak District enabled me to see some spectacular sights and scenes. The only unfortunate thing about combining photography with hiking is the backpack weight!

During my early experimental photography, I discovered a photographer who has over the years become my idol, his name is Morten Hilmer. After watching his YouTube videos and seeing his passion for nature and wildlife, I was inspired and filled with such love of all the things the natural world has to offer.

Mr Rex

Mr Rex is my Alsatian cross Rottweiler dog. When I rescued him, he was 2 years old. He came to live with me having never been outside or been socialised in any way.

On his first ever walk with me, he was barking at cars, planes and basically anything he could, everything was new to him. From there we started a long road to rehabilitation which took 3 years. After a few months of doggy rehabilitation school, he passed but was still showing major aggression towards dogs. He spent 2-3 years muzzled as I started to learn dog behaviour in my spare time. I worked with him during those years until he finally became muzzle free and was playing with dogs.

Since then he has been all over the UK with me. We've kayaked in lochs, lakes and canals, hiked to some of the highest points of Britain and explored the highlands of Scotland. Now in his ripe age of 14, he is in his retirement years due to arthritis. Our adventures are hydrotherapy every week and flat walks but he still likes a wild swim in a river or a lake to cool off in the summer. We do on occasion still manage to get out onto the hills.
